This pilot program includes everything you will need to succeed in your new career as a Truck & Transport Mechanic! A mix of annual classroom time and practical training provides the foundation required for a long career with the City. A few skills you should have to participate in this program :
A bit about this incredible opportunity :
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a team of licensed mechanics working on a variety of light and heavy vehicles and equipment. The City fleet has more than 300 assets, so you will have lots of variety throughout your work day! A typical day includes learning to diagnose and repair automobiles, buses and light and heavy construction equipment under the supervision of a Red Seal Journeyperson.
This unique Apprenticeship Program provides the opportunity to achieve all four levels of Journeyperson Certification in the Truck & Transport Mechanic trade, with financial support from the employer. Under this program, the apprentice will receive full wages during in-school sessions, as well as all tuition, books and examination fees reimbursed by the employer. As a full time position, you are eligible for the defined benefits pension plan and benefits package.
As per the CUPE 69 agreement, there are other benefits that this role is also eligible for including provision of toolbox containing a full set of tools, medical and licensing reimbursement, monthly tool allowance, annual boot allowance and expenses stipend for classroom training to assist with travel, meals and accommodation expenses.

Position Conditions : This position’s hours of work will vary and include evenings and weekends. This will be offered accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement and documentation between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69.
