VP & Business Line Manger - Medical Gas Construction

YOUR MISSION

Reporting to the President & General Manager the VP & Business Line Manger - Medical Gas Construction division is a key member of the Strategic Management Team and officer of the company.

They will lead the Construction and Installation Team and be responsible for the overall P&L of the division across Canada, while focusing on providing exceptional customer value and overall project execution.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership, vision and direction for Construction and Installation Team and assigned employees with a focus on developing overall competence of the Team.
  • Approve pre-bid reviews and oversee sales to operations turnover meetings, with respective Project Team, to ensure accuracy and profitability of project estimate.
  • Ensuring plans, construction contract specifications, and codes meet project requirements and execute take-offs.
  • Conducts performance and development evaluations for direct reports.
  • Manages the development of project plans in advance of project activity assuring effective execution by the Project Team.
  • Monitors progress to assure compliance with the pre-determined execution plan.
  • Prepares or oversees preparation of engineering regarding estimate drawings, correspondence, etc.
  • Works with Construction and Installation Team to monitor, manage and control project costs, review on weekly and monthly basis.
  • Ensure progress billing and timely invoicing of customers based on Percentage of Completion of Projects.
  • Obtains bids and selects reliable subcontractors.
  • Ensures completion of all close-out documentation such as : As-Built drawings and system operating instructions; transfers or excess materials;

billings, collections and payments; and all project records.

  • Enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Oversees estimate, design and / or installation Production / Project Team status meetings.
  • Manage cross-departmental functions to ensure all project objectives are achieved as scheduled.
  • Align with Strategic Management Team to provide support for overall business objectives.
  • Obtain AutoCAD design, construction, installation drawings and other reports as required for project success.
  • Provide project performance audit and forward to Accounting for costing and invoicing purposes and support accounts receivable for overdue payments and / or legal collections.
  • Manage corrective action procedures and execute resolution of escalated project issues or client care concerns.
  • Address any health and safety incidents from field with HR Manager.
  • Networking with contractors, consulting engineers and customers.
  • Responsible for sustainable, profitable, growth of division on national level and report financial results and forecasts on month basis and actively participate in Company and Business Board Review Meetings.
  • Negotiate construction contracts with involvement of Atlas Copco North America legal team and execute as signing officer of the company.
  • Other duties as assigned by General Manager and Divisional President.

TO SUCCEED, YOU WILL NEED :

The VP & Business Line Manager Medical Gas Construction will develop and execute the strategic plan for the construction division across Canada ensuring alignment with Atlas Copco Group corporate strategy.

This person will oversee the Medical Gas Construction projects from inception to completion securing favourable terms and contracts while managing risk throughout the term.

This role requires a dynamic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and passionate about delivering First In Mind, First in Choice medical gas installation solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-Secondary Diploma in related field (Construction Management or equivalent certification)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in medical gas installation or equivalent experience
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract required

KNOWLEDGE

  • Proficient in ERP Software (SAP preferred)
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (including Excel)
  • Thorough and complete knowledge of all codes and regulations with respect to medical gas equipment and installation (CSA, TSSA, Municipal / Provincial / National building codes, etc.)
  • Bilingual in English & French (speaking and writing) considered an asset

  • Proven track record of leading successful teams
  • String understanding of financial KPIs
  • Extensive job site and or project management experience
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Able to collaborate across functions and all levels of organization
  • Familiarity with 3D drawing software an asset
  • Able to read and understand construction project specifications and blueprints an asset

TRAVEL

  • Based in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
  • Frequent domestic travel to project sites across Canada and industry conferences
  • Occasional international travel for training
