Purpose
Reporting to the AVP Pricing, this role serves as a key leader within the pricing team, driving analytical excellence, strategic decision‑making, and cross‑functional collaboration. The director will play a pivotal role in shaping Athene’s APAC new business pricing strategy, conducting insightful analyses on historical reinsurance transactions to guide pricing strategy and build out pricing frameworks for new and emerging risks. The position offers significant exposure to senior management, with regular opportunities to present analysis and influence strategic outcomes, while championing a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Accountabilities
- Perform in‑depth performance tracking for reinsurance business, present key findings and recommendations to executive leadership, and influence pricing strategy in APAC markets.
- Develop pricing frameworks and approaches for emerging risks.
- Champion a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the Toronto Pricing team, strengthening cross‑functional alignment.
- Drive model development, documentation, and control enhancements to improve efficiency and audit readiness.
- Oversee regular liability cash‑flow production processes in support of collateral calculations, ALM processes, and wider profitability measurement processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or any quantitative field and Associate qualification of a widely recognised actuarial body, with Fellowship qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in the life insurance industry.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise and manage several projects.
- Demonstrated desire to take initiative and run with projects.
- Experience with any of the following:
- Annuities / Pension Risk Transfer
- Embedded Value Reporting
- Principal Based Reserving
- Asset‑Liability management including derivatives
- Market Value capital regimes (e.g. Bermuda EBS, Solvency II or similar internal capital frameworks)
- US GAAP or US Statutory Reporting
- Proficient in MS Office suite and any actuarial valuation software. SQL, Python, and any database or programming experience are desirable.
- Ability to view “big picture”, understand broad corporate impacts, and focus on company objectives.
- Excelled oral and written English language skills.
