Substitute Teachers - 2025-2026 School Year

Rocky View Schools (RVS) invites applications for substitute teachers for the 2025-2026 school year. Substitute teachers are called to substitute teach on an as-needed basis at any of our schools. You must be available to work throughout the 2025-2026 school year, be accessible by telephone and internet, and provide your own transportation.

RVS is situated on the traditional territories of the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta and supports a diverse learning community across 53 schools serving more than 29,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

The Opportunity

Substitute teachers for the 2025-2026 school year are hired without a formal interview to be added to the substitute teacher list. A positive reference letter from a recent supervisor, attached to the job application on company letterhead and dated within the past 18 months, will be used to approve placement on the substitute list. Applications should include a professional letter of reference.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collegial environment with all members of the learning community
• Understanding of and commitment to a teaching style congruent with RVS' vision, mission, and beliefs
• Strong pedagogical understanding as it relates to a variety of curricula
• Ability to quickly engage students in their learning while ensuring a classroom climate of respect and safety

Substitute Teacher Expectations

Additional notes : Substitute Teachers are now eligible to access the supplemental benefits package at their own cost. A current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check (within 30 days of start) is required.
