Duties and Responsibilities :
- Convert existing drawings, sketches and records into a digital form and integrate the converted records, survey and CAD data together with associated attribute data into a central spatial database repository using prescribed methods and forms.
- Prepare graphics, reports and derived mapping products from central data repositories or from an assembly of disparate data sets using digital methods.
- Update, maintain and verify the digital mapping of parcels and infrastructure assets (water, sewers, roads, sidewalks, etc.), within the central data repositories.
- Retrieve, assemble and collate information (e.g. locations of sewers, water, parcels) from in-house records and transmit this information electronically, orally or in writing to inquiring public or staff, as required.
- Exchange information with city field crews and utilities on underground plant locations, as required.
- Make basic trigonometric calculations for verifying and augmenting survey measurements and perform calculations for area, curves, frontage, and other data relating to surveys and plans as required.
- Classify, index, file and retrieve various plans and records, as required.
- Operate large format plotters and printers, high resolution scanner for aperture cards, microcomputers, pocket
- calculators, stereoscopes, and other equipment and monitor maintenance service and supplies as required.
- Perform other similar and related duties as required.
Position Requirements :
College Diploma in Geomatics with an emphasis on Geographic Information TechnologyOne (1) year experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) preferably using the ESRI GIS platform in a municipal environment.Experience using Autodesk products (AutoCad / Map and Civil 3D)Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting Engineering, Architectural, Topographic and Survey plan types and their associated accuracies and coordinate systems.Agreement to enter into a separate confidentiality agreement for access to the corporate data repositories.Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software programs.A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture.Proven completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.Valid Ontario Driver’s license, Class “G", with a clean driving record.CUPE 157 Pay Group 8 – Minimum $67,043 annually; Maximum $75,285 annually

Hours of Work : Currently Monday - Friday; 8 : 30am - 4 : 30pm
