Maintenance Technician

The PEI Bag Company is a food packaging manufacturing company located in Bedeque, P.E.I. We are looking for a highly-motivated Manufacturing Maintenance Technician to join our team.

As a full-time maintenance service technician, you will be expected to perform maintenance for our plant equipment and travel throughout PEI to service equipment we sell to our end customers.

The expectation is the role will require about 50% travel to customer locations and 50% at our plant (subject to operational demands).

What You’ll Be Doing

• As a full-time maintenance technician, you will be expected to perform the maintenance for all equipment in the plant which may include the following;
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions;
• Troubleshoot and repair system problems;
• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance routines;
• Project work when required to upgrade or install new equipment;
• Develop and maintain maintenance documentation;
• Adhere to all safety rules and procedures;
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area and ensure that all work tools are in safe operating condition.

Work Environment

The physical environment requires the employee to move in a fast-paced indoor manufacturing environment. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment for safety precaution.

Must be able to pay attention to detail, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time and bend, crouch, or kneel as may be required to repair equipment.

Hours of Work

• Monday to Friday
• 8 : 00am-4 : 30pm or 7 : 30am-4 : 00pm
• To be determined. Schedule may be subject to slight variation to meet operational demands. Overtime may be available.

Job Qualifications

• Post-secondary education required in one or more of the following maintenance fields : electromechanical, industrial electrical, industrial automation or a combination of demonstrated equivalencies and related experience may be considered;
• Legally entitled to work in Canada;
• Integrity and work ethic;
• Strong troubleshooting skills;
• High energy, initiative, and sense of urgency to get the job done;
• Strong communication and team work skills;
• Understanding of industrial automation and controls.
