We have two paths to work in Assurance: Assurance (Audit) or Assurance (Privately Held Business Group). Here are some differences:
Assurance (Audit)
If you thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, Assurance (Audit) could be a great fit. In this service line, you’ll work closely with a variety of teammates, including managers and partners, to ensure transparency and regulatory compliance.
You will have exposure to financial statement audits, reviews, and internal controls while building strong technical and professional skills in accounting standards, auditing standards, and tax compliance. You will work directly with the business you are providing assurance services to, which allows for deeper understanding of how many different organizations operate.
Assurance (Privately Held Business Group)
If you enjoy working independently and taking ownership of your work, Assurance (Privately Held Business Group) could be a great fit. While collaboration is still important, Assurance (Privately Held Business Group) gives you the opportunity to manage client files independently, while working closely with the manager and partner on-file. The focus is on building strong relationships with private business owners, who often live in the same city. Assurance (Privately Held Business Group) has a lot of tax compliance work, making it a great stepping[1]stone for those interested in tax. It’s also a great fit if you have an entrepreneurial mindset, since you’ll be helping businesses thrive.
Depending on your office location, you may work exclusively in Assurance (Privately Held Business Group) or split your time between Assurance (Audit) and Assurance (Privately Held Business Group) – both service lines offer great pathways toward CPA success and long-term career growth.
