JOB TITLE : MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
Organizational Relationships

- IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR’S TITLE : MAINTENANCE MANAGER
I) Basic Function
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for working as a team member ensuring equipment within the plant is regularly serviced and operating smoothly at all times. Maintain continuous contact with the operators of each machine.
II) Scope Of Position
Position functions under the guidance of the Maintenance Mechanic Lead Hand but reports directly to the Maintenance Manager. Assist the Maintenance Mechanic Lead Hand in projects as required. Position requires a good understanding of all equipment in the maintenance shop and strong problem‑solving skills.
III) HEALTH AND SAFETY
Responsible for working in compliance with the provisions of the company’s health and safety regulations.Use and wear all protective devices / clothing as required : ear plugs, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves.Report to the employer / supervisor any absence of or defect in equipment or protective devices.Report to the employer / supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act or the regulations or any hazard known to you.Report any incident, near miss, or property damage immediately.Maintain a clean and safe working environment.Mandatory participation in WRK safety program – BGS, Concern Reporting, etc. see program list for options.IV) Duties And Responsibilities
Plant / Machinery Maintenance (45%)
Ensure machinery within the plant is regularly serviced and operating well.Operate power tools to perform necessary repairs.Operate lathe, welder, milling machine, drill presses, cutting tools and saws to repair damaged parts or design new parts.Maintain the sprinkler system.Preventative Maintenance (20%)
Regular cleaning and checking of all equipment within the plant to ensure satisfactory operation and safety.Trouble‑Shooting (20%)
Respond to machine operators’ requests for a work order by running the machine to determine exactly what the problem is.Read and understand necessary blueprints to help determine where the problem is located.Install / Move Plant Equipment (5%)
Read blueprints to understand how / where installation will occur.Participate as a team member to install or move any large machinery in the plant.Housekeeping (5%)
Regular cleaning / checking of all maintenance area, including shop and compressor area, to ensure they are clean and safe.Maintain maintenance area on the outside of the facility to ensure cleanliness.Make sure all work areas are cleaned up after repairs / modifications.SQF / Food Safety - 5%

Minimum of grade 12 education or related experience.3–5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.Industrial Mechanic Millwright or similar license / certificate required, plus successful completion of an apprenticeship program.Experienced and skilled on all maintenance equipment – lathe, welder, milling machine, drill presses, cutting tools.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Strong safety orientation – follows safety procedures (e.g., lockout) 100% of the time.Lift truck license.Note
