The Opportunity :
The Transportation Analyst is responsible for providing analytical and statistical reporting support for Maple Leaf Foods (MLF) Transportation activities. Activities include monthly KPI’s, variance analysis, scorecard maintenance, carrier selection / negotiation / performance measurement and cost savings projects. Working closely with Transportation leaders, this role recommends freight and distribution alternatives to provide efficient solutions for the MLF Distribution network, while optimizing customer service levels.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life :
- Analyze and Secure transportation capacity across all MLF network.
- Holistic understanding of ML transportation network in effort to find cost savings & efficiencies.
- Monitor and track carrier performance, ensuring service KPIs are consistently met.
- Conduct periodic meetings with the MLF Transportation Planning team and internal stakeholders to address variances, opportunities, and issues.
- Set up and facilitate regular business review meetings with primary carriers.
- Collaborate with transportation leadership on the development and execution of RFPs / RFQs for 3rd party carriers.
- Manage and follow up on carrier claims, coordinating with QA and relevant departments to ensure resolution.
- Assist in developing and maintaining 3rd party carrier SOPs and carrier guides.
- Provide analytical support during the budgeting cycle.
- Conduct monthly variance and trend analysis.
- Support various cost-saving projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide vacation and backup coverage for other analyst roles as needed.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of KPIs and scorecards.
- Maintain an accurate freight rate database.
- Foster collaborative relationships with distribution teams and third-party service providers.
- Recommend and support continuous process improvements.
What You’ll Bring :
Strong knowledge of distribution, transportation, and freight costing3-5 years of Logistics experience including warehouse & transportation with a large organization with multiple profit centersKnowledge of US Freight Customs, USDA Border cross process would be an assetProfessional designation (e.g. : CITT, P.Log) or other related courses would be an assetDemonstrates strong team playerStrongly aligned with Maple Leaf ValuesSuperior oral and written communication skillsExceptional analytical skills with ability to provide insightStrong problem solving, prioritization & organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with strict timelinesAbility to work independently with limited supervisionStrong interpersonal skills that allow for informal and formal networking across the organizationStrong computer skills in Microsoft ExcelFunctional capability with SAP, BEX, BI is an assetWhat We Offer at Maple Leaf Foods :
