Job description

Position Responsibilities :

Bibliographic services : shelf‑ready processing of materials; repairs.

Public services including (but not limited to) :

Assist in providing circulation and information services to the public as required by the schedule.

Provide circulation services, reader’s advisory, and reference and information services to the public as required by the schedule.

Assist users with choosing popular and recreational reading, viewing and listening choices.

Provide search and retrieval of requested information and present results that are clear and of appropriate scope.

Assist patrons to find answers to their questions about mobile devices related to internet, printing or library services (ie ebooks).

Perform basic troubleshooting procedures for computer hardware and peripherals.

Is responsible for the library (client concerns, security, closing, etc.) in the absence of senior staff.

Prepares statistics and reports as required.

Other duties consistent with job responsibilities.

Job Requirements : Qualifications :

6 months of relevant experience in a customer service, educational, or library environment.

Understanding of computerized information services, databases and records.

Experience with standard computer facilities : data entry, word‑processing, spreadsheets.

Comfort in explaining the usage of common digital technology to the public.

Working Conditions :

Work hours will vary up to 41.5 hours per pay period.

This position is expected to be available for work on a two‑week rotation. Subject to shift availability :

Week 1 : Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings; Friday afternoons; Saturday days.

Week 2 : Monday daytime; Tuesday evening; Wednesday + Thursday daytime.

Potential for moderate stress performing duties when meeting deadlines or interacting with the public.

Extended periods of working while standing and / or sitting during shelving.

Some lifting up to 30 lbs. may be required occasionally.

Adheres to all legislation, policies and procedures applicable to the position (e.g. Health and Safety, Human Rights, library policies, etc.).
