YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

Reporting to the Construction Superintendent you will be part of the Capital Projects Department. You will be responsible for planning, supervising, coordinating and executing construction activities for projects within the Capital Projects portfolio. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Manage project contractors by monitoring and controlling performance;
  • Meet operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and constructability reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying construction management system improvements;
  • Meet project budgets and timelines by monitoring site activities and expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions;
  • Accomplish construction project results by contributing to project scope definition; estimating; enforcing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating contractor works; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating and implementing change orders;
  • Prevent orders and interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, the various regulations and codes;
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures;
  • Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Post-secondary education in mining engineering technology preferred; considerable experience in related field will be considered in lieu;
  • 5+ years’ experience in managing the execution of small to medium size underground projects;
  • Knowledge of basic project management techniques (i.e.progress measurement and earned value technique) and experience in estimation, cost monitoring, analyzing and reporting;
  • Experience in underground mine development is an asset
  • Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet project deadlines;
  • People management skills and experience managing Contractor personnel is an asset;
  • Working knowledge of regular financial and procurement processes, preferably in construction or engineering projects is an asset;
  • Good work ethic and strong attitude towards safety;
  • Knowledge of Ontario OH&S Act & Regulations is considered an asset;
  • Experience working at a remote work site is considered an asset;
  • Experience working in SAP or similar Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS);
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
