Wage : $24.00 - $26.25 per hour $6 BC ECE WageEnhancement

Hours : Full-Time Monday Friday hours between 7am 5 : 30pm

Location : Courtenay BC

Job purpose

Reporting to the Child Care and Early Learning Managerthe Child CareCentre Supervisor is responsible for the efficient and effective operation ofaBGCCVI Child and Family Centre which offers both early years and out ofschool care programs. This role oversees the operations of the Early Yearsprograms including curriculum implementation staff management programoutcomes and child enrollment. The Child Care Supervisor works incollaboration with the Out of School Care Supervisor to ensure organizationaland external policy and processes are followed in key areas including but notlimited to Occupational Health and Safety VIHA Child Care Licensing and BGCOperating Standards. This role acts as the point person for the Centreand is responsible to be an approved Manager of the License with VIHA ChildCare Licensing.

Duties and responsibilities

Early Years Programs Responsibilities

Ensure thattheearlyyearsprograms meet allVIHACommunity includes initial onboardingofchildren and familiesupdating of registration documentsandtomaintain program enrollment targets.

Conduct early years program assessments todevelop individualized and group curriculum that meet the developmental needsof the children within the program. Work with the ECE team to create meaningfuland enriching programming that uses the BC Early LearningFramework.

Participate in the creation of individual careor medical plans with parents and / or caregivers and other BGCCVIstaff / stakeholders when required to fulfill the needs of the child.

Maintains liaison with for maintaining effective relationships with parents / caregivers andother stakeholders. Involve the parents / caregivers in the decision-makingprocess as it relates to the growth of their child at the Club.

Responsible for the management and support ofprogram staff including but not limited to interviewingorientation / onboarding performance management facilitation of staff meetingsstaff supervision and training.

Works with other Program Supervisors andadministrative departments to ensure early years programs and organizationalperpetual actions and reporting are completed in timely manner. Thisincludes financial reporting billing registration and enrollment.

Centre Responsibilities

Maintains a high levelofexcellencein relation to VIHA Community Care Licensingregulations BGC Operating Standards Work Safe BC Regulation andBGCCVIPolicy and procedures.

Support the Out of School Care Supervisor inrelation to VIHA Community Care Licensing Regulations including Centreinspections investigations reporting etc.

Provide Supervision and Performance Managementto the Out of School Care Supervisor and to the Early Childhood Educators andAssistants.

Create an awareness and culture of trauma andviolence informed care and person-centered approach and planning; workingcreatively with families to accommodate participation and work to removebarriers to participation. Participate in special promotional activitiesprograms or events as required by BGCCVI.

In collaboration with the Operation Coordinatorthe Child Care Centre Supervisor will ensure maintenance and service(s) relatedto the facility and vehicles to ensure the health and safety of staffparticipants and overall positive image of BGCCVI.

Maintains WorkSafe BC regulations for the Centreare met through participating in internal inspections and adherence to theOccupational Health and Safety Program.

Qualifications

Early Childhood Education Diploma (Combinationof education and experience will be considered).

Valid First Aid / CPR certificate approved byCommunity Care Facilities Licensing.

A criminal record check will be conducted; noapplicable convictions will be permitted.

Must be approved by the BC Early ChildhoodRegistry (ECE Certificate).

Must be approved as a Licensed Manager byCommunity Care Facility Licensing within 30 days of employment.

Two (2) years previous work experience in aLicensed Child Care Facility as well as experience supervising staff.

A positive supportive and cooperative rolemodel to children and youth.

The ability to function independently underpressure while managing complex situations is an ongoing expectation of thisposition.

Demonstrated ability to teach skills and workeffectively with others.

Experience of assessment planningimplementation and evaluation of programs and activities including workingwith those with unique needs and diverse abilities.

Well-developed oral written and interpersonalcommunication skills including the ability to use MS office suite Outlook andMS Teams as well as basic word processing and spreadsheet ability.
