About the Role
This purpose of this role is to provide quality specialist psychiatry services across Inpatient, Community, and Addictions teams, tosupport clients of the service alongside our skilled Nursing and Allied Healthstaff and covers acute care and on call work. The Mental Health and AddictionServices is located on the Timaru Hospital campus and is where this role isbased.
About you
In South Canterbury we deliver a Strengths Based Model of Care andwe are seeking someone that will bringtheir clinical expertise to our Mental Health and Addictions Service (which isrecognized by Government & general public alike, as being a priority needarea).
The ability to maintain good working relationships with colleaguesfrom all disciplines is essential.
We are seeking an experiencedPsychiatrist who is eligible for Vocational Registration with the NZ MedicalCouncil and or a Fellow of the Australasian College of Psychiatrist (orequivalent).
Additionally we are seekingsomeone who demonstrates;
Health New Zealand - South Canterbury is responsible for the delivery of services throughout theSouth Canterbury region and Timaru Hospital (131 beds) serves a districtpopulation of approximately 50,000 based in a General Hospital Facility, (whichhas just commenced a significant refurbishment programme), providing our localcommunity with such critical 24 / 7 services as ED, ICU / CCU, General,Orthopaedic, & ENT Surgery, O&G, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Oncology &Palliative Care, Internal Medicine and Paediatrics. The Kensington Centre isacross from the main hospital and provides inpatient and community mentalhealth and addiction services

Salary Range
Thisrole is covered by the terms and conditions of the Senior Medical OfficersCollective and the salary will be in accordance with the Pay Scale, anddependent on relevant experience.
