Job description

We are hiring a  Quality Manager -Contract Manufacturing  in  Canada.

The Quality Manager -Contract Manufacturing is the primary quality interface between Boston Beer and all contract manufacturers, including co-manufacturing, co-packing, and external warehousing. The role is primarily responsible for ensuring BBC Contract Manufacturing's Food Safety and Quality expectations and standards are met while leading improvement initiatives that benefit both parties. Responsibilities include review and approval of new contract manufacturers, maintenance of existing operations including regular review quality performance, resolution of quality upsets, disposition of non-conformances, audits, etc. This position is an integral to the Boston Beer Quality Team and Contract Manufacturing Team.

What You'll Brew :

  • Primary Quality oversight for all Contract Production (primarily in North America – US and Canada)
  • Own contract manufacturer qualification, audit, and assessment. This includes representing Boston Beer in external and internal inspections / audits and working with New Product Development.
  • Procurement and the Ingredients team, as well as ensuring all necessary documentation is available and up to date.
  • Participate in the co-manufacturer selection process for food safety and quality.
  • Monitors and reports actively on supplier quality metrics (KPIs), quality agreements with critical partners, and the quality of supplier records, and drives co-manufacturer management reviews with relevant stakeholders.
  • Actively participates in co-manufacturer quality-related communication and feedback. This includes ownership of the escalation process for nonconforming material or product escalation process, ensuring root-cause analysis and corrective solutions are identified and implemented with closure plans.
  • Drives compliance with applicable Food Safety and Quality Management Systems : HACCP, SQF, TTB compliance, Kosher certification, etc.
  • Review quality and food safety production performance results, including product and packaging quality, sensory, customer, and consumer complaints, and lead improvement initiatives.
  • Make disposition decisions for nonconforming materials and products.
  • Track and review KPIs and generate periodic Quality and Food Safety Performance reports.
  • Conduct audits to verify BBC standards are met and identify and lead food safety and quality improvements.
  • Support implementation of new product introduction at co-manufacturers and meet quality standards.
  • Work cross-functionally in both internal and external organization
  • This position may require 50+% travel, primarily domestic and some international

What Ingredients You'll Bring :

  • Seven plus years of experience in Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Operations discipline
  • Knowledge of core Food Safety and Quality sciences
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action
  • Experience managing food safety and quality across multiple locations
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate technical data with partners.
  • Independent, self-motivated individual with demonstrated success.
  • Strong leader who exhibits presence and influence
  • General Statistical Process Control knowledge, including implementation.
  • High degree of competence in mechanical inspection techniques
  • Proven achievements in building and maintaining relationships with multiple suppliers / customers.
  • Experience and knowledge of GFSI schemes, SQF preferred Level
  • Level 5

    Under pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role, if hired, is $82,000.00 to $130,000.00 annually, depending on location and the candidate's experience level. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance.
