We are seeking a self-motivated Food and Packaging Technologist to join our Operations team. The Food and Packaging Technologist will be driving Food and Packaging product development, improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Product Excellence Manager in product development, lab testing and in-restaurant validation.
- Develop specifications for new and enhanced ingredients, products and packaging.
- Commercialize products by conducting plant trials, attending first productions and subsequent formal product evaluations and production data analyses.
- Actively seek and investigate continuous improvement opportunities and alternative processing methods and technologies.
- Explore, develop and validate new packaging and improve existing packaging
- Develop poultry products specifications and ensure compliance through supplier data analyses
- Participate in Product Excellence as well as cross-functional Team meetings and initiatives
- Manage / execute product and packaging presentations.
- Collaborate with QA to ensure product compliance with CFIA regulations
- Maintain Quality Assurance Programs for products and categories including (but not limited to) poultry and packaging products.
- Supports cost savings initiatives for the company including ideating with suppliers, exploring, testing and developing solutions
- Work with Purchasing team on product and vendor development projects
- Work closely with international counterparts to gain approval on local initiatives.
Key Qualifications
A Post-Secondary Degree in Food Science or Food technology.Food industry manufacturing experience in product development or quality assurance. A minimum of 2 years’ experience. Poultry processing experience would be considered an asset.Strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrated presentation skills.Knowledge of supplier management and Quality Assurance ProgramsLeadership skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and senior management through influence and persuasion.Ability to work with minimal supervision, in a team environment and effective at multi-tasking (managing several projects simultaneously).Computer literacy in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Familiarity with restaurant operationsFlexibility, high-energy level, drive for results attitudePassion for food
