The Senior Advisor, Digital Content is responsible for driving the content strategy, information architecture, content development, quality assurance and business validation, including advising and establishing standards and guidelines for the Ontario Health website.
Here is what you will be doing :
Work closely with communications advisors and business partners to plan, design, create, edit and publish external facing web content ensuring content it is consistent, based on identified audience needs, follows best practices and standards, and is compliant with AODA and other relevant legislation.
Provide consultation and leadership on matters related to writing for the web, content management, information architecture, web and document accessibility, usability, digital and editorial standards, and style. Advocate for the user, in content, design and information architecture.
Work with business partners across the organization to review, consolidate and migrate existing content from multiple websites to the Ontariohealth.ca website.
Oversee writing style and tone for all website content, including advising on the development of content governance standards and guidelines, and ensuring compliance.
Develop and manage the execution of a strong SEO content strategy.
Advise, guide and coach communications leads, content contributors, team members and business partners on relevant topics, including developing or curating instructional material and training opportunities.
Advise on content strategy and content development for new content, websites, and site migrations, including adapting complex print-based reports and clinical tools for digital publication.
Conduct and report results of periodic content audits as required.
Champion website usability, accessibility, and editorial excellence, including promoting digital and editorial standards and best practices.
Subject matter expert for WCAG and AODA compliance, and web writing best practice ensuring compliance to AODA, Ministry Directives and Ontario Health brand standards.
Act as primary Web Team liaison with French Language Services Coordinator to ensure content is translated and posted on all French websites as required.
Act as primary Web Team liaison with legal counsel with respect to AODA and other relevant legislation compliance, issues, and exceptions.
Copyedit and proofread web content.
Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
Here is what you will need to be successful : '
Education and Experience
Minimum of 5-7 years experience in healthcare marketing and online copywriting / editing. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Extensive experience writing for digital projects involving complex topics, conducting site content audits, and repurposing content to tight deadlines.
Demonstrated understanding of the art and science of writing for the web
Experience evaluating, auditing and analyzing content to identify potential opportunities to streamline content and identify areas for potential improvement
Experience managing content and production for high traffic websites
Experience with various content management systems and MS Office suite of product
Strong knowledge of SEO and best practices for digital content
Knowledge of taxonomy and information architecture best practices
Knowledge of AODA requirements and best practice
Technical knowledge of web development is an asset
Understanding of human-centered design and user experience testing is an asset
Skills and Abilities
Exceptional editorial skills, including writing accessible content for diverse audiences, proof-reading, and copy-editing, and creating editorial guidelines and documentation
Highly developed conflict resolution, project management, time management, organizational, inter-personal and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated advanced research and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a cross-departmental team
Ability to deal with multiple priorities and meet deadlines
