Overview : We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team, dedicated to fostering a proactive safety culture and driving continuous improvement in our production operations.
The ideal candidate will have a background in automation, controls, and manufacturing systems, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities :
- Safety Leadership : Develop and promote a proactive safety culture by actively engaging team members and peers in our safety processes.
- Global Manufacturing System (GMS) : Utilize and implement the Global Manufacturing System effectively to enhance production efficiency and safety.
- Production Support : Provide daily support to production operations, focusing on personnel and equipment safety, process quality, and uptime, particularly in the areas of automation and controls.
- Technical Support : Offer technical and engineering assistance to production and maintenance teams, troubleshooting equipment and process failures, and implementing effective countermeasures.
- Project Management : Identify, plan, and execute projects that align with departmental business objectives and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and reliability.
- Equipment Reliability : Review and track equipment operation and reliability, developing tracking methods where necessary.
- Process and Quality Improvement : Lead special projects aimed at process enhancement, quality improvement, equipment refurbishment, line rate increases, and future program development.
- Equipment Standards : Ensure new and existing equipment meets operational requirements and adheres to applicable standards.
- Documentation Management : Maintain and ensure the availability of proper documentation, including drawings, manuals, and preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment in the assigned area.
Develop and maintain maintenance standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Knowledge Maintenance : Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in relevant fields of expertise.
- Knowledge Transfer : Identify opportunities for technical training and knowledge transfer to other Controls Engineers, interns, and maintenance associates.
- System Interface Design : Design and manage key strategic interfaces within systems to enable component reuse and adherence to standard methodologies.
- Root Cause Analysis Support : Assist other specialists in performing root cause analysis to improve system performance.
- Testing and Improvement : Design and conduct tests to identify opportunities for design improvements efficiently.
- System Vulnerability Management : Identify and document system vulnerabilities, craft mitigation action plans, and track corrective actions.
Required Qualifications :
- Experience : 2-4 years of experience in controls and automation, with a preference for 3-4 years.
- Technical Skills :
- Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Skilled in HMI programming.
- Knowledgeable about conveyors, welding, and robotics, particularly Fanuc robots.
- Industry Background : Experience in the automotive industry is highly desirable.
Education :
Open to various education levels, including college diplomas.
Tools / Software / Methodologies :
Familiarity with relevant tools, software, and methodologies used in automation and controls engineering.
Starting on day shifts and then will move to rotating shifts :
- 3 weeks on day shift (6 : 30AM 2 : 30PM)
- 1 week on afternoons (2 : 30PM -10 : 30PM)
- 1 week on nights (10 : 30PM 6 : 30AM
