VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) has been creating opportunities for greater independence and providing compassionate care for 100 years. Serving clients across the Greater Toronto Area, Mississauga / Halton, Durham Region, London, Ottawa, and Kingston, VHA’s dedicated team of over 3,000 healthcare professionals offers nursing, rehabilitation, personal support, and home support services. With a commitment to client and family-centered care, VHA supports Ontario’s seniors, families, children, and adults living with disabilities, chronic conditions, or terminal illnesses, helping them live more independently, in comfort, and with dignity.
As one of Ontario’s leading not-for-profit home and community care providers, VHA is recruiting volunteers to serve as Directors on the Board. VHA is seeking three individuals who are passionate about home and community care, committed to VHA’s purpose and aligned with their principles.
The Board of Directors at VHA plays a critical role in overseeing the organization’s strategic direction and governance, ensuring that it remains fiscally responsible and aligned with its mission to provide high-quality home care services. They also focus on enhancing operational excellence and community engagement while implementing recommendations from governance reviews to adapt to the evolving healthcare landscape.
VHA’s skills-based Board is a reflection of their diverse community, encouraging applicants from a broad range of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences to apply. This year, VHA is particularly interested in candidates with expertise in (1) accounting (CA / CPA), investing, and pension plan administration, and / or (2) knowledge in health systems leadership, advocacy, government relations, and partnerships. Additional areas of interest include business development, ideally with experience in mergers and acquisitions, legal expertise, human resources with a focus on innovative workforce solutions, and clinical expertise. The organization seeks candidates with non-profit governance experience, and lived experience as a home care client or caregiver is considered an asset. The organization is also actively inviting applications from Indigenous candidates, including First Nations, Inuit, and Métis individuals.
A proud signatory to the BlackNorth Initiative, VHA’s Board also aligns with the Government of Canada’s 50-30 Challenge, demonstrating a commitment to ensuring that the Board represents the diverse workforce and the clients and families it serves.
