Pinchin Ltd. is seeking a motivated Regional Leadto join our growing Ecology & Natural Science (Environmental Science) team in the GTA Region. This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to play a key role in the continued growth and trajectory of the group both locally and in collaboration with our national Environmental Science practice team in Canada. This position will be a hybrid role in alignment with our core values of work life balance.
The Regional Lead will lead our regional Environmental Science team; design and direct technical work; prepare disciplinary and coordinate multidisciplinary proposals; manage budgets and schedules; foster technical excellence; and carry out strategic business development. The successful candidate will partner within Pinchin's land development services group and work on a variety of biological / ecological projects for clients in real estate, commercial, infrastructure, government / public and industrial sectors. Biological work will focus on natural environment baseline, monitoring studies and species-specific assessments for all aspects of land and infrastructure development and operation, including due diligence, approval / permitting, and development construction projects.

Leadership :
- Hiring, developing, and leading the team.
- Mentoring, training and supervising field and technical staff.
- Preparing technical and career development plans and providing direction and mentorship on complex issues and technical work.
- Lead in the planning, designing and implementation of biological field studies and technical reports.
- Ensure the timely delivery of consistent high-quality services to our existing and new clients.
Project Management :
Manage or review projects from the proposal stage through to completion, including allocation of budgets, personnel and resources, billing, and client relationships.Review or prepare high quality scientific and technical proposals, letters, and reports.Oversee the acquisition of environmental permits / approvals and development of protection and mitigation measures according to environmental legislation, policies, and guidelines.Liaise with other project managers and technical specialists, including environmental scientists, engineers, GIS / CAD technologists and other disciplines.Biological Technical Duties :
Lead and manage background searches and review of available sources including aerial photographs, natural heritage features, wildlife atlases, site plans and other supporting documents for potential environmental opportunities and constraints.Lead or review biological field investigations including botanical inventories, Ecological Land Classification, plant and wildlife surveys, targeted Species at Risk surveys, and feature delineations (e.g., wetlands, woodlands, etc.) based on established protocols and guidelines.Consult and liaise with regulatory agencies for the request of background information, review of terms of references, review of environmental studies / features, and response to agency review comments.Delegate, manage and senior review field and office tasks requiring scientific research, field studies, data recording, entry and management, analysis, and reporting.Delegate, manage and senior review site inspections and monitoring of environmental features, Species at Risk and habitats, and / or erosion and sediment control measures.Maintain technical proficiency, including participation in professional practice groups and organizations.Participate in the preparation and presentation of training programs.Strategic Business Development
Engaging in business development, building and maintaining client relationships, and monitoring industry trends.Identify strategic business opportunities in collaboration with the leadership team and implement.Internally market Environmental Sciences to other Pinchin service lines, including finding opportunities for partnership between the services.Participate in industry events, multidisciplinary business development campaigns, thought leadership, and client lunch & learns to build industry awareness.Financial Performance
Working with the GTA Senior Leadership Team to prepare the annual Environmental Sciences budget and business plan for the region.Work with the Project Teams to meet project financial targets.Manage invoicing and accounts receivables with administrative staff.Review of cost estimates / proposals for potential clients.What you bring to the Pinchin team
University degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies or related degree and experience.At least 10-15 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting and / or agency work, with a minimum of 5-10 years of project management and coordination experience in consulting considered an asset.Familiarity with environmental management, planning and permitting processes and direct experience working with federal, provincial and municipal regulations and approvals.Practical knowledge of environmental legislation and policies including the Provincial Policy Statement, Conservation Authorities Act, Endangered Species Act, Species at Risk Act, Migratory Birds Convention Act, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, Fisheries Act, and Invasive Species Act.Applied experience and skills in the identification of Ontario flora and fauna (i.e., vascular plants, birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, insects, and / or fish), identification of Species at Risk and habitats, and delineation of habitat types.Professional or Registered Professional Biologist, Certification in Ecological Land Classification for Southern Ontario, Certification in the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System, ISA certified Arborist, and / or Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control are considered assets.Excellent service marketing and business development skills.Excellent written and verbal communications skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.What's in it for you :
