The Unit Clerk will support the safe, efficient and effective operations of the Unit / Program by providing quality clerical support. In collaboration with the Charge Nurse, the Unit Clerk will work under the direction of the Program Manager.
Skills And Qualifications Required
- Two year Office Administration, Health Services (Also known as Medical Office Administration) Diploma or equivalent combination of education and healthcare clerical experience
- Successful completion of medical terminology course, preferred
- Two years of experience performing similar healthcare clerical duties preferred
Position Responsibilities
Acts as first point of contact for the unit (e.g. welcoming guests to the unit, answering telephones, redirecting calls, taking messages, etc.)Completes appropriate processes and procedures regarding patient / client transfer, admission, discharge, patient / client death, client / patient activity, leave of absence, program change or clinician changeResponds to routine inquiries from patients / clients and their families and refers emergent matters to the appropriate team member / managerCommunicates with staff and / or Manager on any issues, concerns or questions from family / care providers, or hospital and community partners in a timely mannerResponds to requests from visitors, ensuring confidentiality and privacy requirements are maintainedMaintains accountability to follow organizational policy and legislation regarding the access to and distribution of patient informationLiaises with hospital and community partners to support safe client / patient transition processesEnsures client / patient records are properly completed, securely stored and readily available to physicians, nurses, and other health care providersWhy Work At Providence Transitional Care Centre
