Job Title : Financial Consultant (6-Month Term)
We're excited to announce an opening for a Financial Consultant on behalf of an impactful nonprofit organization in the GTA dedicated to serving the autism community. This is a hybrid role with the flexibility of working 2-3 days in the office and the rest remote. The position is based in Scarborough, offering a competitive hourly rate of $50-$65, depending on your experience. The contract is set for 6 months, with potential for extension or conversion to a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities :
Hands-On Financial Management
- Collaborate closely with the finance director and management team to develop, consolidate, and present operating and capital budgets.
- Analyze year-to-date actuals against budget variances, ensuring effective resource utilization and accountability.
- Prepare cash flow statements and assist in managing investment performance, providing financial reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure the accurate preparation of financial reports, including monthly statements, variance analysis, and funder budget submissions.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and financial planning.Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to align with the organization's long-term financial strategies.Identify opportunities for process improvements within financial operations, leveraging technology and automation where possible.Regulatory & Compliance Support
Support the preparation and accuracy of statutory financial filings (T3010, HST / GST returns, etc.).Assist in managing the annual financial audit and ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations.Stay current on statutory regulations and accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations (GAAP).Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with the finance team to ensure strong financial controls, compliance, and reporting.Provide insights and support to management through detailed financial analysis and forecasting.Qualifications & Requirements :
CPA or MBA is a plus.5+ years of finance experience, particularly in hands-on roles.Familiarity with government reporting and a solid understanding of federal and provincial statutory regulations.Knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting specific to not-for-profit organizations.Strong proficiency with accounting and business software systems.Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic financial planning.Excellent teamwork skills, with a proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally.This role is a fantastic opportunity for a finance professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a nonprofit setting, working closely with leadership to drive financial sustainability while supporting the organization's mission!
