Salary: $110,000–$170,000 per year

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Associate Lawyer to join a well-established boutique family law litigation firm in downtown Vancouver.

This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to develop or further advance their career in family law while working on complex and sophisticated litigation matters.

Our client offers a collaborative environment where associates are encouraged to take ownership of their files, develop their advocacy skills, and gain meaningful courtroom experience.

The firm is flexible regarding year of call and welcomes applications from both junior and experienced lawyers. While family law experience is preferred, candidates with strong litigation backgrounds who are interested in transitioning into family law will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage family law litigation files from initial consultation through resolution, depending on experience.
• Draft pleadings, applications, affidavits, financial statements, settlement agreements, and written submissions.
• Handle complex matters involving property division, income determination, support obligations, business valuations, and parenting disputes.
• Conduct examinations for discovery and participate in settlement negotiations.
• Attend chambers applications, judicial case conferences, mediations, and settlement conferences.
• Prepare witnesses, evidence, and materials for hearings and trials.
• Represent clients in court and assume increasing responsibility for hearings and trials.
• Work alongside experienced senior counsel on complex family law matters.
• Provide practical, strategic advice to clients while maintaining a high standard of professional service.

Qualifications & Experience

• Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
• Previous litigation experience required; family law experience is strongly preferred.
• Open to lawyers at various stages of their careers.
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience managing litigation files independently would be an asset.
• Courtroom experience, including chambers applications, discoveries, mediations, or trials, would be beneficial.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial information.
• Experience with business interests, valuations, income determination, or tax-related matters would be an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Sound professional judgment and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
