URGENTLY HIRING: NANNY / CHILDCARE PROVIDER Position Details Compensation: $1,800 per month Hourly Rate: $20/hour Schedule: Approximately 15 working days per month Location: Burnaby, BC Additional hours: May be available depending on family needs. Regular Schedule Saturday: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM Sunday: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM We are seeking a caring, patient, responsible, and engaging nanny (male or female) to care for two children, ages 1.5 and 5. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children and understands the importance of gentle parenting, emotional development, positive discipline, and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. Key Responsibilities 1. Childcare & Emotional Development - Respond to children's emotions with patience, empathy, and understanding. - Encourage healthy emotional expression, kindness, respect, and independence. - Use positive reinforcement, redirection, and age-appropriate explanations. - Support healthy sibling relationships by encouraging sharing, cooperation, and problem-solving. - Never use physical punishment, yelling, intimidation, threats, or humiliation. 2. Learning & Development - Read to both children daily and organize age-appropriate educational activities. - Assist the 5-year-old with simple homework and learning activities. - Encourage creativity through books, puzzles, arts and crafts, and educational games. - Promote physical development through outdoor play, park visits, and recreational activities. - Limit excessive screen time and encourage active, meaningful play. 3. Daily Routines & Personal Care - Assist with bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, and general hygiene. - Maintain consistent meal, nap, rest, and bedtime routines. - Encourage healthy eating habits and age-appropriate independence. - Help children organize their toys, books, and personal belongings. 4. Meals & Household Support - Prepare nutritious meals, snacks, and school lunches. - Prepare snacks and meals in advance for when the children return home. - Clean up after children's meals and activities. - Keep children's play areas and shared spaces tidy. - If the children are not home during scheduled working hours, assist with light household cleaning, organization, and meal preparation. - Pick up the 5-year-old from school and ensure safe transportation home. Household responsibilities are limited to light cleaning, organization, meal preparation, and tasks related to the children and family. This is not a general housekeeping position. 5. Safety & Communication - Maintain appropriate supervision and follow parental instructions. - Communicate incidents, concerns, and daily updates to parents. - Respect family privacy and maintain confidentiality. Ideal Candidate & Qualifications The successful candidate should be patient, nurturing, emotionally mature, dependable, punctual, and proactive. Previous experience caring for toddlers and young children is strongly preferred, along with an understanding of child development and gentle parenting. Additional requirements and assets include: - Previous nanny, babysitting, or childcare experience. - Current Infant and Child CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it. - Two strong references, preferably from previous childcare employers or families. - ECE training or Montessori experience is an asset but not mandatory. Mandatory Criminal Record Check The successful candidate must be willing to complete the appropriate BC criminal record screening process, including a vulnerable-sector check where applicable, and provide the required authorization before starting employment.
