Substation Technologist Lethbridge

Operate and maintain AltaLink transmission substations in Lethbridge, using electrical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and disciplined safety practices.

This full-time permanent Substation Technologist/Substation Electrician supports Transmission Field Operations in Alberta. Reporting to the Manager, Substations South, you will work within a multidisciplinary team maintaining equipment from 4160V to 500KV. The work includes equipment status reporting, emergency response, safe work planning, and support for capital upgrades and new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate, inspect, and maintain transmission substation equipment
• Provide equipment status information and recommend improvements
• Respond to station facility troubles and system emergencies
• Support capital upgrades, replacements, SVC, and PST technologies
• Develop safe work plans and mentor junior employees

Requirements:

• Related recognized technologist diploma, preferably Electrical Technology
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with analytical problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of required safety practices, procedures, and standards
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and computer competency
• Ability to work at heights, outdoors, on-call, and out-of-town
