Job description
Build embedded software with Ciena using Linux, VxWorks, and C or C++ during a four-month work term starting January 2027.
This co-op supports Ciena’s real-time embedded platform and application software for flagship products. You will work across kernels, base components, drivers, and system applications. The work connects low-level hardware software with higher-level state machines and external applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain Linux and VxWorks kernels
- Develop drivers for ASICs, FPGAs, and hardware
- Build hardware software interfaces across abstraction layers
- Develop fault and alarm subsystems
- Create performance monitoring system applications
Requirements:
- Actively enrolled in computer or electrical engineering
- Computer science or similar discipline enrollment accepted
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree
- Experience with C or C++
- Embedded systems or telecom development experience preferred
