AWS DevOps & Cloud Security Engineer

Salary: $90,000 - 105,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience managing production AWS environments, including cloud architecture, networking, IAM, and security.
• Experience migrating and deploying containerized web applications to AWS.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and backend troubleshooting.
• Experience with Docker, Linux, GitHub Actions, and infrastructure as code using Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and asynchronous task processing.
• Experience implementing cloud security practices, vulnerability management, monitoring, and backup and recovery systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with software developers to troubleshoot and optimize production infrastructure.
• Preferred: Experience with Django, Celery, RabbitMQ, Redis, and React-based applications.
• Preferred: Experience implementing security controls for healthcare applications handling protected health information under HIPAA or PHIPA.
• Preferred: Experience with Amazon Bedrock, AI/ML infrastructure, or high-volume scientific data processing.
• Preferred: Knowledge of AWS services such as ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and KMS.
• Preferred: AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect, Security Specialty, or DevOps Engineer Professional.
• Preferred: Experience coordinating penetration tests, conducting security risk assessments, or supporting compliance audits.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the migration of our AI-powered neurotechnology platform to AWS, covering containerized applications, databases, APIs, and background processing services.
• Select and configure AWS services to support scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Secure our AWS environment through least-privilege IAM, network isolation, encryption, secrets management, access controls, and ongoing security monitoring.
• Implement technical safeguards that support HIPAA and PHIPA compliance, including audit logging, secure storage, backup and recovery, data retention controls, and audit-ready documentation.
• Support deployment and operation of Python backend services, REST APIs, PostgreSQL databases, and asynchronous processing pipelines using Celery and RabbitMQ.
• Help integrate Amazon Bedrock and other AWS AI/ML services securely into our platform, with appropriate data protection and access controls.
• Build and maintain GitHub Actions deployment pipelines for development, staging, and production, and manage infrastructure with Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Implement automated security scanning, dependency and container vulnerability checks, patch management, threat detection, and incident response procedures.
• Establish application and infrastructure monitoring, centralized logging, alerting, automated backups, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
• Track and optimize AWS spending using budgets, alerts, right-sizing, and regular infrastructure reviews.
• Document our cloud architecture, security practices, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks, and train our internal team to maintain the platform independently.
