Job description
Work on high-horsepower diesel and natural gas engines with Gentech Field Services in Calgary. Apply mechanical troubleshooting skills while learning power generation.
This opportunity suits a registered 2nd or 3rd Year Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice. You will support specialized generator, emergency standby power, and diesel fire pump service. The work includes inspections, diagnostics, repairs, testing, and documentation for commercial, industrial, institutional, and construction clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance on generators and diesel fire pumps
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair engines
- Inspect fuel, cooling, exhaust, starting, and control systems
- Assist with load bank testing and commissioning
- Complete service reports and maintenance documentation
Requirements:
- Registered 2nd or 3rd Year Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice
- Own apprenticeship-level tools and demonstrate mechanical aptitude
- Basic diesel engine knowledge and computer skills
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with clean abstract
- Willingness to learn specialized power generation skills
Develop mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting capabilities while servicing critical power equipment throughout Alberta with Gentech Field Services.
