Senior Accountant School District Finance

Apply accounting analysis and budgeting expertise as a Senior Accountant for SD42 in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, supporting public education finances.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this full-time continuing position manages accounting records, financial data, analyses, budgets, and projections. You will work with general ledgers, reconciliations, financial information systems, and Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards. The schedule is 35 hours weekly across 12 months.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain general ledger accounts and advise payroll and human resources
• Process system transfers, payroll interfaces, invoices, and electronic payments
• Complete complex bank, vendor, customer, and general ledger reconciliations
• Prepare financial reports, cash flow projections, and variance explanations
• Support audits, training, procedures, correspondence, and management communications

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• Three to five years’ intermediate accounting experience
• CPA designation completion or progress preferred
• Knowledge of Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards
• Microsoft Office, financial systems, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
