Logistics Driver - Warehouse Operations

About the Role Our client, a major distribution hub, is seeking a diligent and reliable Logistics Driver to support warehouse operations in Kimberley, Northern Cape . This role is fundamental to the efficient movement of goods within the supply chain, ensuring materials are transported between the warehouse, loading docks, and potentially to nearby distribution points. The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license, a strong work ethic, and a good understanding of logistics procedures. You will be responsible for operating company vehicles, maintaining logs, and ensuring the safe handling of all transported items. This is a key operational role within Our client's Kimberley facility, contributing directly to the smooth functioning of their logistics network.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate company vehicles (e.g., light trucks, vans) for internal transfers of goods within the warehouse complex and to/from designated local points.
• Load and unload materials, ensuring proper handling, stacking, and securing of items to prevent damage or loss.
• Assist warehouse staff with receiving, put-away, picking, and dispatching operations as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of all movements, including delivery receipts, logs, and any vehicle inspection reports.
• Perform routine checks on vehicles before and after operation, reporting any maintenance needs or defects.
• Adhere strictly to all warehouse safety procedures, traffic rules, and company policies.
• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the vehicle used.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse supervisors, forklift operators, and other team members.
• Support overall warehouse efficiency and contribute to meeting operational targets.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License (Code 08 or equivalent) and a Professional Driver's Permit (PDP) is advantageous.
• Previous experience as a driver or in a warehouse/logistics environment is preferred.
• Good knowledge of safe driving practices and basic vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 25kg) regularly.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to completing tasks efficiently.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to different logistics tasks within the warehouse.
• Familiarity with basic warehouse operations is a plus.
• Must be physically fit and able to work in a dynamic warehouse setting.
