Intermediate Mechatronics Engineer Robotics

Build industrial robotic cells through mechanical design, electrical systems, Python testing, and C++ development at Vancouver-based Apera.

As an Intermediate Mechatronics Engineer, you will work with Robotics & Grasping, vision, software, and product teams. You will help create complete vision-guided cells, from concept through production, while improving VuePort camera calibration. The work combines hardware development, robot integration, and structured experimentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve VuePort calibration methods and systems
• Research calibration methods and metrology techniques
• Design VuePort cameras, enclosures, optics, and mounting
• Build robot drivers for ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa, and Universal Robots
• Optimize robot motion, cycle time, and vision timing

Requirements:

• Strong mechanical and electrical foundation
• Comfort writing Python for quick tests
• Ability to read and contribute to C++
• Experience with industrial vision-guided robotic cells
• Interest in hardware-first product development
