Overnight Laboratory Assistant Specimen Processing

Use strong specimen processing knowledge and precise data entry as an overnight Laboratory Assistant with Dynacare’s Histology team in Brampton. This onsite contract runs Monday to Friday.

The Laboratory Assistant processes laboratory specimens and enters requisitions or results accurately and timely. Responsibilities include handling STAT instructions, add-on testing, reference problems, and clinical trials. The position also requires following procedures for infectious materials and shipping.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prioritize time-sensitive specimens for testing and shipment
• Process add-on requests and select subsequent specimens
• Handle STAT, verbal, critical, and special instructions
• Resolve outstanding reference results and missing information
• Liaise with departments regarding problems and inquiries

Requirements:

• Laboratory Assistant Program or minimum one year equivalent experience
• Strong specimen processing knowledge and accurate data entry
• Minimum 40 words per minute data entry speed
• Ability to respond to changing priorities and phone calls
• Strong interpersonal skills for team-centered work
