Municipal Heavy Equipment Operator

Operate heavy equipment for the Township of Oro-Medonte in Ontario, using trucks, loaders, excavators, and snowplow attachments. Full-time work supports public operations.

The Equipment Operator reports to the Operations Division within Operations & Community Services. This position requires construction equipment operation, large commercial motor vehicle competency, and knowledge of maintenance and construction practices. Winter afternoon shifts may support operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate front-end loaders, excavators, skid steers, and tractors
• Drive trucks with dump boxes, sanders, and snowplow wings
• Review and follow up on directed work orders
• Respond to emergency roadside tree removal
• Install barricades for road closures and detours

Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent and two years related experience
• Valid Ontario Class DZ driver’s licence
• Satisfactory driver’s abstract
• Ability to perform physical duties using heavy equipment
• Availability for flexible, standby, and on-call shifts
