Special Needs Educational Assistant

Support special needs students as an Educational Assistant with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board, working full-time in a permanent position.

This Educational Assistant supports prescribed programs in individual and group settings. The work includes Individualized Education Plans, behaviour support, student development reporting, and classroom assistance. Candidates need post-secondary Educational Assistant preparation or equivalent experience working with children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with prescribed programs for special needs students
• Support transitions, lessons, projects, and Individualized Education Plans
• Observe behaviour and document academic, motor, and social development
• Provide conflict management, crisis intervention, and de-escalation support
• Assist with feeding, toileting, supervision, and classroom routines

Requirements:

• Complete a post-secondary Educational Assistant program or equivalent
• Have at least one year of experience working with children
• Perform physical tasks including toileting and lifting
• Maintain discretion with confidential student information
• Use basic computer software and function independently within teams
