Job description
Maintain safe, attractive district grounds as a Commercial Groundskeeper using landscaping skills and commercial equipment. Work Monday through Friday, 7 am to 3 pm.
Red Deer Public Schools seeks a Groundskeeper for Facility Services on a term contract from November 23, 2026, to November 17, 2027. The position maintains district facilities through seasonal landscaping, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and vehicle upkeep. Experience with skid-steer loaders, commercial lawnmowers, trucks, and trailers is important. The assignment replaces a leave of absence and is temporary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mowing, trimming, landscaping, weed control, and property cleanup
- Operate riding lawnmowers, skid-steer loaders, tractors, and powered equipment
- Transport equipment, materials, and supplies between facilities
- Inspect, maintain, clean, and repair vehicles and equipment
- Complete snow removal and sanding for safe access areas
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence and acceptable driving record
- Commercial grounds maintenance, landscaping, or related experience
- Experience operating grounds equipment, trucks, and towing trailers
- Physical stamina for outdoor work in varying weather conditions
