Casual Anesthetic Assistant Island Health

Island Health needs a casual Anesthetic Assistant for Campbell River Hospital, supporting surgical anesthesia with patient assessment and clinical judgment skills.

Under clinical direction from the anesthesiologist, this Anesthetic Assistant contributes to an integrated surgical team. The position provides technical support and clinical assistance through anesthesia induction, maintenance, and recovery. Work follows Canadian Anesthesiologists Society standards, guidelines, and Island Health’s commitment to patient and staff safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support anesthesiologists during surgical anesthesia phases
• Provide technical and clinical assistance as directed
• Assess responses to care and respond appropriately
• Operate related equipment and computer software
• Plan, organize, and prioritize assigned work

Requirements:

• Respiratory Therapy school graduation
• Accredited post-graduate Anesthetic Assistant Program completion
• Eligibility for Canadian Anesthesiologists Society membership
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Use anesthesia knowledge, equipment skills, and sound judgment while supporting Island Health surgical services as a casual assistant.
