Repair municipal vehicles and equipment in Powell River using heavy-duty diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and emergency repair expertise. Work schedules include rotating shifts and standby responsibilities.
The Mechanics Trades II maintains the City of Powell River fleet and supports safe, reliable municipal operations. This position suits a journeyperson with Red Seal qualification and experience repairing heavy-duty construction equipment, trucks, and machinery. Duties include inspections, service records, repair coordination, and technical guidance on equipment condition and safe operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repair, service, and maintain the City's fleet
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and emergency repairs
- Troubleshoot engines, drivetrains, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Maintain accurate work orders and inspection records
- Coordinate specialized or contracted repair requirements
Requirements:
- Grade 12 diploma and current Red Seal certificate
- Two years' journeyperson experience in relevant mechanical trades
- Valid Class 2 British Columbia driver's licence with Air Endorsement
- Valid British Columbia Vehicle Inspection Program certificate
- Ability to obtain required workplace and equipment training
