The City of Barrie seeks a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer I for its Enforcement Services Branch. You will address animal control, signs, lottery licensing, yard maintenance, and business licensing matters. The position supports community health, safety, and well-being through education, negotiation, investigations, evidence collection, and court documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Enforce municipal by-laws and applicable provincial statutes
• Seek compliance through education, negotiation, and mediation
• Investigate complaints and collect witness statements and evidence
• Lay appropriate charges when compliance is not forthcoming
• Prepare documentation supporting prosecution through court processes

Requirements:

• Two-year college diploma in law enforcement or related discipline
• Municipal Law Enforcement Officer certification and association membership
• Two years performing related enforcement responsibilities
• Ontario Class G licence, good record, and reliable vehicle
• Knowledge of Provincial Offences Act and municipal by-laws
