Building Maintenance Technician Kitchener

Building maintenance expertise meets City of Kitchener facilities at the Kitchener Operations Facility, covering repairs, renovations, and preventative maintenance.

This Building Maintenance Technician performs broad maintenance across interior and exterior components, finishes, fixtures, equipment, and related assets. The work includes assessing requirements, coordinating with staff, trades, contractors, and suppliers, and following safety practices, codes, procedures, and service standards. Independent work is performed within established guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and minor renovations
• Respond to urgent facility repairs and safety deficiencies
• Assess work requests, materials, equipment, labour, and scope
• Coordinate maintenance activities with occupants, trades, and suppliers
• Complete work orders, reports, records, and purchasing documentation

Requirements:

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
• Valid MTO “G” class driver’s license
• Building operations and maintenance knowledge
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Residence within 45 minutes for on-call purposes
