Senior Landfill Gas Systems Operator

Operate landfill gas systems for the City of Chilliwack while applying environmental expertise, troubleshooting skills, and technical judgment at Bailey Sanitary Landfill.

The Senior Environmental Specialist supports environmental program delivery as a Landfill Systems Operator. This full-time position focuses on landfill gas collection, flaring, maintenance, expansion, and related solid waste duties. The work includes project oversight, reporting, procurement, budgeting, and planning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate, maintain, and expand the landfill gas system
• Perform well balancing and monitor collection system performance
• Troubleshoot landfill gas and flare system issues
• Supervise consultants and contractors on assigned work
• Prepare procurement documents, reports, and project plans

Requirements:

• Technician diploma in a directly related field or equivalent experience
• Experience operating landfill gas collection, flaring, or utilization systems
• Knowledge of municipal solid waste and landfill gas regulations
• Eligibility for ASTTBC or equivalent professional registration
• Valid British Columbia Driver's Licence
