Intermodal Heavy Duty Mechanic

Diagnose diesel, electrical, and hydraulic systems as an Intermodal Heavy Duty Mechanic with CN. Work nights and partial weekends as required.

CN’s Intermodal Heavy Duty Mechanics repair, overhaul, service, and maintain cranes, terminal tractors, vehicles, and material handling equipment. The position involves using welding, lubrication, measuring, and vehicle repair equipment safely and effectively. Mechanics prepare inspection, maintenance, and work reports while following federal and company regulations. Company-directed training must be completed successfully for future duties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect and maintain Intermodal cranes, tractors, vehicles, and equipment
• Diagnose diesel, gas engine, electrical, hydraulic, and driveline malfunctions
• Repair, replace, clean, adjust, and service equipment components
• Use welding, lubrication, measuring, and vehicle repair equipment
• Prepare inspection, maintenance, and work reports

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma
• Diploma of Vocational Studies in Heavy Duty Mechanic
• Valid driver’s license and minimum age of 18
• Technical diesel mechanics knowledge; qualified 310T/421A mechanics
• Ability to work shifts, heights, weather, and physical tasks
