Job description
Support animal care as a part-time Veterinary Assistant in Elora, Ontario, counseling clients and handling patients safely. Approximately 10 hours weekly, with additional coverage hours available.
Wellington Veterinary Services seeks a temporary Veterinary Assistant for a six-month leave. Under a Veterinarian or Registered Veterinary Technician’s direction, you will educate clients about medications, home care, vaccinations, and preventative healthcare. You will also explain laboratory testing and help animals feel safe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Counsel clients about medication dosage and purpose
- Educate clients on home care and vaccination requirements
- Recommend preventative healthcare under veterinary direction
- Suggest and explain laboratory procedures and testing
- Greet, handle, and treat animals safely
Requirements:
- Availability for approximately 10 hours weekly
- Ability to cover vacation and sick days
- Willingness to support a six-month temporary leave
- Commitment to compassionate animal care
- Ability to collaborate with the veterinary team
