Sessional Lecturer Creative Writing

Teach creative writing online at the University of Toronto Mississauga, using literary studies expertise and experience in fiction and poetry. The appointment runs January through April 2027.

This Sessional Lecturer assignment supports LEC0101 in the UTM English & Drama department. Students engage in creative exercises across literary writing genres, while you design and teach the university credit course. Duties include developing assignments, marking assessments, submitting grades, and holding office hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and deliver creative writing course content
• Develop, administer, and mark assignments, tests, and exams
• Calculate and submit final grades
• Hold regular office hours for students
• Supervise assigned teaching assistants when applicable

Requirements:

• MFA or PhD in English
• Specialization in literary studies
• University-level creative writing teaching experience
• Experience teaching fiction and poetry
• Strong publication record as a creative writer
