Complex Needs Educational Assistant

Apply student plans, support complex needs, and promote independence as an Educational Assistant at Heloise Lorimer School. The temporary assignment runs until April 23, 2027.

Rocky View Schools is seeking a temporary full-time Learning Assistant for its Kindergarten to Grade 6 school in Airdrie. Reporting to the Principal, this position collaborates with teachers across classroom, school, and community settings. You will assist learners requiring personal, behavioural, medical, and safety supports.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare individualized program materials under teacher direction
• Participate in requested collaborative student planning meetings
• Assist emotional and behavioural regulation according to plans
• Support toileting, hygiene, eating, movement, and transfers
• Assist adaptive physical education and motor development activities

Requirements:

• Ability to follow teaching staff plans and directions
• Ability to build rapport with students and staff
• Ability to remain calm during elevated emotional states
• Strong communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to perform required daily physical tasks
