Job description

Stubbe’s is a family-owned and operated company that has been in business for over 40 years. At Stubbe’s, our continued focus is to provide unique, cost-effective, and lasting building solutions. Stubbe's started as a small precast company servicing the agricultural market, evolving over the past 40 years to a diversified company that provides a wide range of concrete (related) products and services. Stubbe’s is known for its forward-thinking solutions, quality, and customer service and offers significant experience and expertise in providing optimal solutions for commercial, industrial, residential, and agricultural structures.

Reporting to the VP of the Cement Division, the Cement Sales Representative will develop and grow sales of Stubbe’s cement products throughout Western Canada. This role requires an experienced sales professional with a strong background in mining or extensive experience in the cement, admixtures or concrete industries.

The successful candidate will bring a solid understanding of industrial customers, construction materials, and large-volume supply requirements. They will identify new opportunities, build relationships with key decision-makers, and develop supply agreements that support long-term business growth. Established connections within Western Canada’s mining or construction materials markets will be a strong asset. This is a fully remote position.

THE DAY TO DAY

  • Develop and execute a regional sales strategy to grow Stubbe’s cement business throughout Western Canada.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities with mining operations, ready-mix producers, concrete manufacturers, civil contractors, industrial customers, and materials distributors.
  • Build relationships with mine operators, technical teams, procurement departments, contractors, and senior decision-makers.
  • Understand customers’ operational needs, technical requirements, purchasing practices, and anticipated cement volumes.
  • Identify opportunities associated with mine development, expansions, ongoing operations, major infrastructure projects, and other applications requiring a dependable cement supply.
  • Where applicable, work with customers and internal technical resources to assess opportunities involving cemented mine backfill, paste fill, and other mining applications.
  • Present product capabilities and supply options, coordinating technical support to address product performance, suitability, testing, and approval requirements.
  • Prepare quotations, respond to tenders, and negotiate pricing, supply agreements, and commercial terms within approved guidelines.
  • Work closely with production and logistics teams to assess freight costs, delivery options, supply capacity, and service requirements across the territory.
  • Monitor customer demand and coordinate volume forecasts, delivery schedules, and changes in supply requirements.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurate CRM records, providing regular forecasts and updates on opportunities, competitors, and market conditions.
  • Travel throughout Western Canada to meet customers, visit operating sites, attend industry events, and develop new business.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A minimum of five years of successful sales, business development, or account management experience, supported by either a strong mining industry background or extensive experience in cement, aggregates, concrete, or closely related bulk construction materials.
  • Demonstrated success developing new business, managing major accounts, negotiating commercial agreements, and achieving sales targets.
  • Experience selling into mining operations or managing substantial customer relationships within the cement, aggregates, or concrete sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of Western Canadian markets, with established industry relationships and an understanding of regional purchasing and supply practices.
  • Ability to identify and engage the people who influence technical approvals, supplier selection, purchasing decisions, and long-term supply agreements.
  • Understanding of cement applications and performance requirements, or a strong technical foundation in mining or construction materials that supports developing this knowledge.
  • Experience with cemented mine backfill, paste fill, or the supply of materials to mining operations would be a strong asset.
  • Commercial understanding of bulk material sales, including volume commitments, freight costs, delivery constraints, pricing structures, and profitability.
  • Experience responding to requests for quotations, tenders, and supplier qualification requirements.
  • Ability to manage complex sales opportunities involving technical, procurement, operational, and logistics teams.
  • Strong relationship-building, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to earn credibility with both site personnel and senior leaders.
  • Ability to remotely work independently across a large territory, prioritize opportunities, and maintain reliable sales forecasts.
  • A diploma or degree in business, mining, engineering technology, construction, or a related discipline is preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant industry experience and demonstrated sales success will be considered.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly throughout Western Canada, including overnight travel and visits to remote customer sites.
