Janitorial Clerk - Brandon Food Store

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout customer areas, washrooms, offices, lunchrooms, entrances, storage rooms, and other facility spaces by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.
• Clean and restock washrooms, ensuring an adequate supply of soap, paper products, and other necessary items while maintaining high sanitation standards.
• Empty garbage and recycling bins, transport waste to designated disposal areas, and ensure proper waste management procedures are followed.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, WHMIS, occupational health and safety, asset protection, and security procedures while promptly reporting hazards, maintenance concerns, and safety issues.
• Monitor janitorial supply inventory, maintain cleaning equipment, and perform additional housekeeping, deep-cleaning, seasonal, and special project duties as assigned by the Food Store Manager.

Education and Experience:

• Completion of high school is preferred.
• Previous janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience is considered an asset.
• Experience working in a retail, grocery, food service, or customer-focused environment is considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• WHMIS certification is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals is considered an asset.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with availability for approximately 15-20 hours per week.
• Position requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and repetitive movements.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
• Requires adherence to workplace safety procedures and the use of personal protective equipment as required.
