Our pensions client is seeking a Senior Database Administrator and Back-up Consultant to provide enterprise database and backup and recovery platform support

Join a public sector organization supporting critical pension administration services across multiple statutory and supplementary retirement plans. This role provides senior-level operational support for enterprise database and backup and recovery environments, including maintenance, performance tuning, disaster recovery support, and recoverability validation. The engagement focuses on operational stability, incident response, compliance support, and reducing recurring operational risk through automation and standardized tooling.

Must Haves

• 10+ years administering enterprise relational database platforms including maintenance, patching, upgrades, security, performance tuning, and capacity planning for a pensions client
• Senior-level administration of backup and recovery platforms including scheduling, retention, monitoring, restore operations, and disaster recovery testing
• Scripting, automation, and monitoring tools supporting database and backup operations
• Change management, incident management, and problem management practices including planning, validation, documentation, and follow-up verification

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting financial services, pension administration, or other highly regulated environments
• Experience producing backup verification, restore-testing, and recovery evidence for audit, compliance, or cyber-insurance purposes
• Experience supporting database or data protection modernization, platform upgrades, and disaster recovery exercises
• Experience applying scripting, automation, and standardized tooling to reduce recurring operational effort
• Relevant database, backup and recovery, cloud, or IT service management certifications

Responsibilities

• Administer enterprise database platforms including maintenance, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning
• Monitor database availability, security, integrity, and capacity
• Administer enterprise backup and recovery services across supported environments
• Investigate backup and recovery failures and perform restore testing
• Document recovery evidence required for audit, compliance, and cyber-insurance requirements
• Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure staff, and vendors to resolve operational issues and support projects
• Implement automation, tooling, and standards to reduce recurring operational effort and risk
