Job Description

The candidate will be performing structural welding within a shop-based environment, focusing on short runs of various steel and aluminum products. Responsibilities include layout, setup, fitting, welding, and quality testing of welds. The role involves heavy lifting, with expectations to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding on steel and aluminum products.
• Layout, setup, and fitting of materials for welding.
• Conduct quality testing on completed welds.
• Read and interpret blueprints and P&ID.
• Operate machinery including band saw, shear, and drill press.
• Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding).
• Experience in a fabrication shop environment.
• Ability to fit and weld structural steel.
• Blueprint reading skills.
• CWB certification (FCAW horizontal).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• TIG welding background.
• Quality control experience.
• Familiarity with bandsaw, shear, drill press, and ironworking.
• Experience working with aluminum and stainless steel materials.

Work Environment

Work in a custom shop environment located 25 minutes south of Calgary. The facility includes a new extension housing advanced machinery like a plasma cutter. The office is home to a few friendly cats, so candidates should not have cat allergies. The shift is Monday to Friday, from 7 AM to 3:30 PM.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Aldersyde, AB.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
