Technical Writer

Introduction

We are looking for a highly skilled individual to join our team and lead the creation of developer and platform documentation for an Independent Data Layer for IT and OT data in smart buildings. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a technical environment and can translate complex systems into clear, actionable content for developers and integration partners.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience writing technical documentation for SaaS platforms or developer tools.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and HTTP protocols, GraphQL, Azure IoT Hub and Event Hubs, and JSON and CSV data formats.
• Proficiency with documentation tools and platforms such as Markdown, Confluence, and GitHub.
• Ability to write for a technical audience, including Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and developers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Prior work experience in a related industry.
• Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with smart building technologies or OT/IT data platforms.
• Familiarity with security best practices and writing hardening guides.
• Background in software development or systems integration.
• Knowledge of developer experience (DX) principles and API usability.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Create and maintain developer documentation for REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, and Azure Event Hubs.
• Write platform user guides, onboarding materials, and security hardening documentation.
• Document data import/export workflows involving JSON and CSV formats.
• Develop technical content for our Open Connector Framework and Azure IoT Hub integrations.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams to gather and validate technical information.
• Organize and publish documentation using Markdown, Confluence, and GitHub.
• Ensure content is structured for discoverability, usability, and accessibility.
• Maintain version control and change logs for documentation updates.
