Job description

This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2027 with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency

Note: This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A mandatory CV template is provided for use. Application requirements include character limited responses to address only 2 Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) domains at application stage. The remaining AITSL domain will be assessed as part of the further assessment stage, for shortlisted applicants only.

The Role

CLC is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Education Support Teacher to join our inclusive and supportive team. The successful applicant will ideally display outstanding interpersonal skills, a passion for inclusive education, and a commitment to creating a positive, safe and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive.

The successful applicant will join our Inclusive Education Department, working with students who require a range of substantial to extensive adjustments and supports to access the curriculum, engage in learning and achieve success in their education. Our dynamic team of specialist teachers and education support staff works collaboratively to deliver individualised programs and evidence-based practices that support students' academic, social, emotional and physical development. The successful applicantwould be responsible for designing and implementing highly differentiated learning programs and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that provide meaningful and engaging learning opportunities tailored to each student's strengths, needs and aspirations.

This role ideally requires a reflective, flexible and student-centred educator who displays knowledge of evidence-based practices that support students with disability and neurodivergent learners. Highly desirable skills include experience supporting students with complex communication needs and the implementation of strengths-based approaches that foster independence, engagement and wellbeing. A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and inclusive teaching strategies is desirable to promoting safe, supportive and responsive learning environments where every student's success is recognised and celebrated.

The successful applicant will ideally possess the capacity to effectively lead classroom teams and work collaboratively with families, therapists and external agencies to support student learning and wellbeing outcomes. Experience in supporting students with complex communication needs and planning for students with high and complex needs will be highly regarded. The ability to develop, implement and review high-quality IEPs that incorporate functional curriculum goals, social-emotional learning, life skills and Protective Behaviours education is essential. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable but not essential.

The successful applicant will ideally display a strong commitment to inclusive education and a genuine belief in the potential of every student to learn, participate and succeed. They should be skilled in building and sustaining positive relationships with students, families and colleagues, and will contribute to a culture of high expectations, inclusion and continuous improvement.
