Architectural Project Manager
Abbotsford, BC
Architecture & Design Firm
Salary: $90,000 to $115,000
Lead Projects from Concept to Completion. Build Client Relationships. Guide Teams Through Every Stage of Delivery.
About the Firm
Our client is an established architectural practice based in Abbotsford, BC, with a strong presence in the Fraser Valley.
The firm works across a diverse range of projects, including multifamily residential, commercial, industrial, and community developments, providing architectural design, technical documentation, project coordination, and construction administration services.
With a collaborative team and a diverse portfolio of projects, the firm is looking for an experienced Architectural Project Manager who can take ownership of projects, lead client relationships, and guide teams through the full architectural project lifecycle.
About the Role
This is an opportunity for an experienced architectural professional who enjoys being involved in every stage of a project, from the first client meeting and early design discussions through production, construction, and final occupancy.
The firm is looking for someone who can take full ownership of architectural projects, manage client expectations, lead internal teams, and ensure projects are delivered successfully from start to finish.
As Architectural Project Manager, you will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, working closely with them to understand their vision, project requirements, budgets, and timelines. You'll be involved from the earliest stages, helping shape project direction and ensuring those initial conversations translate into practical, well-coordinated designs.
You will then guide projects through design development, construction documentation, permitting, and construction, overseeing the work of architectural and technical staff while coordinating with consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
This is a hands-on leadership position that requires a strong understanding of architectural design, technical production, and construction processes, along with the ability to manage people, solve problems, and maintain strong client relationships.
The firm is open to both Registered Architects and experienced non-registered architectural professionals, provided they bring the necessary project management experience and a demonstrated ability to lead projects through the full lifecycle.
What You'll Be Doing
Manage architectural projects from initial client meetings and conceptual design through design development, construction documentation, construction, and occupancy
Act as the primary client contact throughout the project, building strong relationships and maintaining clear communication
Lead early project discussions to understand client objectives, design requirements, budgets, schedules, and overall project expectations
Oversee multiple projects, managing scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and deliverables
Lead and coordinate internal project teams, including architects, architectural technologists, designers, and junior staff
Assign responsibilities, monitor workloads, and provide guidance to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met
Work closely with design and technical teams to ensure projects progress smoothly from early design into detailed production
Oversee the preparation and coordination of drawing packages, specifications, permit submissions, and construction documentation
Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and other consultants throughout the project lifecycle
Review project documentation for quality, accuracy, code compliance, and coordination
Manage municipal submissions, permitting processes, and communication with approving authorities
Oversee construction administration, including RFIs, shop drawings, site reviews, contractor coordination, and resolution of construction-related issues
Maintain client involvement and project oversight through construction completion and occupancy
Mentor and support developing team members, encouraging collaboration, accountability, and strong technical delivery
Work closely with firm leadership to support project planning, resource allocation, and overall project performance
What They're Looking For
8+ years of professional experience in architecture, with demonstrated experience managing projects through the full architectural lifecycle
Registered Architect (AIBC) or an experienced non-registered architectural professional with strong project management and technical delivery experience
Proven experience managing projects from early client discussions and design development through documentation, construction, and occupancy
Strong background in multifamily residential, commercial, industrial, mixed-use, or community projects
Previous experience working on projects for Fraser Health and/or BC Housing would be a strong asset, but is not required
Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships, lead meetings, and serve as the primary point of contact throughout a project
Experience leading and supervising architectural project teams, including designers, technologists, and junior staff
Strong understanding of architectural production, construction documentation, building systems, detailing, and consultant coordination
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and internal resources
Solid knowledge of the BC Building Code, municipal permitting processes, and construction practices
Experience overseeing construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, site coordination, and project closeout
Working knowledge of Revit and BIM-based project delivery, with the ability to guide and review technical production
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence working directly with clients, consultants, and contractors
Ability to manage competing project priorities while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
A collaborative leadership style and an interest in mentoring and developing architectural staff
Why Join?
For an experienced architectural professional who enjoys taking ownership of projects and seeing them through from the very beginning to the final stages of construction, this position offers the opportunity to do just that.
Rather than being limited to a particular phase of design or production, you'll have the opportunity to remain involved throughout the entire project lifecycle, building relationships with clients, guiding your team, and seeing projects come to life.
The firm is looking for someone who brings both technical knowledge and strong people skills, someone who enjoys leading teams, managing the moving parts of a project, and working directly with clients to deliver successful outcomes.
You'll also benefit from:
Competitive salary depending on experience
Opportunity to manage projects from initial concept through construction and occupancy
Direct client relationships and meaningful involvement in project decisions
Diverse portfolio of multifamily residential, commercial, industrial, and community projects
Opportunity to lead, mentor, and develop architectural and technical staff
Collaborative team environment with direct access to firm leadership
Opportunity to contribute to the continued growth and success of an established Fraser Valley practice
Full-time, office-based position in Abbotsford, BC
If you're an experienced Architectural Project Manager, Registered Architect, or senior architectural professional who enjoys leading projects, working closely with clients, and guiding teams through every stage of delivery, this could be an excellent next step.
